Raja Ram Mohan Roy - Pioneer of Indian Education

Raja Ram Mohan Roy is called as Father of Modern India, due to his huge contribution in social and education reforms in India. he was a great scholar and educationist who was well versed in Sanskrit, Persian, English, Arabic, Latin and Greek. He believed that English education is important for the development and supported teaching in English to traditional languages.

This far-sightedness of his then, has helped us reach where we are now. He was strong believer that education is the most important for the upliftment of Indian society. He favoured and introduced the English Education system for teaching the of scientific subjects such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry etc. In 1817 along with David Hare he established Hindu College which became one of the best educational institution later which produced some of the best minds. This was the stepping stone in the education system of India.
